Four weeks into the NFL season, the most downloaded betting app in America isn’t a sportsbook.
According to download data from Citizens, Kalshi leads the field with 2.6 million downloads through Week 4. Polymarket sits second at 2 million.
DraftKings is the top traditional sportsbook, but it’s not close. It’s at 1.3 million, which is half of Kalshi’s number.
Here’s the full top 12:
- Kalshi: 2.6M
- Polymarket: 2M
- DraftKings: 1.3M
- FanDuel: 860K
- PrizePicks: 392K
- Hard Rock Bet: 388K
- bet365: 370K
- Fanatics: 331K
- Sleeper: 301K
- BetMGM: 263K
- Underdog: 214K
- Novig: 196K
Prediction markets own half the pie
Add up all 12 apps and you get about 9.2 million downloads. Kalshi and Polymarket account for 4.6 million of them, right around 50%.
Kalshi on its own has more downloads than DraftKings and FanDuel combined (2.16 million).
That’s a big swing from just a few years ago, when DK and FD were basically the only names that mattered here.
Kalshi took the lead back
This race has flipped already. Through Week 2, Polymarket was actually on top with 1.37 million downloads to Kalshi’s 1.31 million.
Two weeks later, Kalshi has opened up a 600K lead.
Sportsbooks are fighting for scraps
The six traditional sportsbooks on the list (DraftKings, FanDuel, Hard Rock, bet365, Fanatics and BetMGM) combine for about 3.5 million downloads. That’s still well short of the two prediction markets.
Hard Rock is the quiet winner of the bunch. It slipped past bet365 and Fanatics for the No. 3 spot among sportsbooks.
BetMGM is the one to worry about. It’s 10th overall, behind two DFS apps. Caesars doesn’t appear in the top 12 at all.
DFS is holding its own
PrizePicks, Sleeper and Underdog combine for just over 900K downloads. PrizePicks alone is ahead of every sportsbook not named DraftKings or FanDuel.
With prediction markets now offering player props of their own, it’ll be worth watching whether those pick’em apps can hold onto that ground as the season goes on.
