What a mess last Saturday was. Texas lost to Oklahoma as the No. 1 team in the country, Georgia actually won in Tuscaloosa for once, and UCLA beat Oregon in Eugene with a backup QB. And Week 7 might be better. Ohio State at Indiana kicks off at noon, Bama goes to Knoxville, and Notre Dame plays in Provo at night. Here are my nine picks:

Saturday, Oct. 17 (Noon)
Ohio State at Indiana — Indiana +3.5
These two met in the Big Ten title game last year, and now Ohio State has to go to Bloomington for the first time since Cignetti took over. Sayin threw 4 TDs against Maryland last week, but come on, it was Maryland.
Indiana’s 6-0. They’ve got 20 sacks, third most in the country, and teams are running for 75 yards a game on them. The 20-17 win over Nebraska wasn’t pretty and I’m not going to pretend it was. I’m still not laying points with Ohio State in that building. Hoosiers plus the hook.
Florida at Texas — Texas -10.5
Texas pretty much gave that Oklahoma game away. Manning threw two picks in the fourth, and OU only needed 19 seconds to go 31 yards and kick the winner. Tough way to lose your No. 1 ranking.
Florida isn’t in a good spot either. They got beat 45-25 at Missouri, then lost 38-19 to South Carolina. Those are back-to-back losses for a team people were talking up a few weeks ago. I think Texas comes out mad at home. Laying it.
Mississippi State at LSU — LSU -12.5
Losing 35-34 in OT at Kentucky has to sting for LSU. Now they’re back home in Death Valley at noon. Mississippi State is ranked, sure, but Alabama hung 61 on them two weeks ago. Kiffin also saw this team every year when he was at Ole Miss, so he knows them. LSU covers.
Saturday Afternoon
Penn State at Michigan — Penn State +6
Yeah, Penn State’s lost three in a row (Wisconsin, Northwestern, USC), and Matt Campbell’s first season is going sideways. I’m still taking them.
Here’s why. Michigan’s offense is second-worst in the Big Ten in scoring, and only one team in the conference has turned it over more. They also lost 20-14 to Minnesota before their bye. When you’ve got an offense like that, laying six points makes no sense to me.
Auburn at Georgia — Auburn +20.5
Georgia just beat Alabama 20-17 on Woodring’s field goal, and it has a bye after this one. I’ve seen this movie a few times. Big win, sleepy game, then a week off.
Auburn had last week off. Two weeks ago they were up at halftime in Knoxville before losing 24-14. Georgia’s won nine straight against Auburn, so the 10th one probably comes too. Winning by three touchdowns is a different ask. Auburn plus the points.
Alabama at Tennessee — Alabama -8.5
Bama didn’t score in the fourth quarter against Georgia, and I think they come into this one ticked off. Tennessee is 5-1, but that 24-17 win at Arkansas was sloppy. MacIntyre made his first start and threw two picks, plus he fumbled inside the red zone.
Tennessee has won the last two meetings in Knoxville, I get it. But the Vols have also dropped four straight home games against ranked teams. Bama.
Saturday Night
Notre Dame at BYU — Notre Dame -10
Provo’s going to be loud. Notre Dame hasn’t been there since 2004. But BYU is without LJ Martin, last year’s Big 12 Player of the Year, and the offense has been tough to watch lately (17-10 over TCU, 24-10 over Iowa State).
Notre Dame beat Stanford 58-7, and CJ Carr went 14-of-20 with three TDs. Ten points on the road isn’t nothing, but I’ll lay it with the Irish.
Wisconsin at UCLA — Wisconsin +3
UCLA’s 5-0, and its 10 interceptions are the most in the country. Love it. The Oregon win, though, was mostly Oregon coughing it up seven times. Iamaleava hurt his lower leg before halftime and didn’t come back.
Wisconsin had a bye and already went into State College and won. If Iamaleava can’t go, three points looks pretty good. Badgers.
Nebraska at Oregon — Nebraska +7
This one doesn’t kick until 11 p.m. ET on FOX, so stay up for it. Oregon is 3-2. They lost at Oklahoma State, and they turned it over seven times against UCLA last week.
Nebraska came within a field goal of Indiana. Most of the Huskers’ wins came against weak teams, I’ll give you that. Still, I don’t trust Oregon to win by more than a TD right now. Huskers.
