Four teams are off this week (Bengals, Dolphins, Lions, Vikings), so the board is down to 14 games. The Vikings are 5-0 and sitting at home, which leaves the 49ers as the only unbeaten team playing this week. Kansas City is back off its bye too, still 4-0. Our own week was meh. We went 7-8 against the spread in Week 5, helped by the Giants somehow tying Washington in overtime and the Bucs winning outright in Dallas. Here’s every game, DraftKings lines as of Oct. 13.

Thursday, Oct. 15
Seahawks at Broncos — Broncos +2.5
Both teams are 3-2 and both are coming off games that could’ve gone either way. Seattle dropped a 32-29 one to San Francisco, Denver handled the winless Chargers 23-17. Altitude in Denver is a real thing, and I’m happy to take the points at home. Honestly feels like a coin flip with a bad total.
Sunday, Oct. 18 (London)
Texans vs. Jaguars — Jaguars -2.5
Jacksonville is back across the pond for the second week in a row, which sounds exhausting. They’re 4-1 though, and they just beat the Eagles 19-17 at Tottenham. Houston is 1-4 but looked great last week, stuffing Tennessee 26-3. That’s the Titans, though, so I’m not reading much into it. I’ll lay the short number with the better record.
Sunday, Oct. 18
Bears at Falcons — Falcons +3
Chicago was 3-1 and then got flattened 31-7 in Green Bay. I don’t love buying a team right after that kind of performance. Atlanta is 2-3 but pushed the Ravens to overtime before losing 30-23, and that offense can score. Three points at home is plenty for me.
Ravens at Browns — Ravens -4.5
Baltimore is 4-1 and just survived Atlanta in OT. Cleveland’s 3-2 after dropping a 17-12 game to the Jets, which was a pretty ugly offensive showing. I’m going with the more complete team here, even if it’s a number I’d normally stay away from.
Titans at Colts — Colts -7
Tennessee is 0-5 and scored three points against Houston. Three. Indy is 2-3 after losing 34-22 at Pittsburgh, so it’s not like they’re rolling, but a touchdown at home against that offense is fine by me.
Jets at Patriots — Jets +7.5
New England dropped 45 on Las Vegas, and I get why people are excited. But the Jets just beat Cleveland 17-12. Seven and a half is a lot for a division game. Take the points and hold your nose if you need to.
Saints at Giants — Giants -1.5
New Orleans is 1-4 and lost 23-13 to Minnesota at home last week. The Giants are 3-1-1, and yes, that’s a real record after the 27-27 tie in Washington. I’m not going to overthink this one. Small number, home team, better record.
Panthers at Eagles — Panthers +1.5
Carolina is coming off a bye and sits at 2-2. Philly lost that 19-17 game in London and now has three losses on the season. Something’s off with the Eagles’ offense, and I’d rather be on the side getting the points. Don’t be shocked if the Panthers just win it.
Steelers at Buccaneers — Buccaneers +3
Pittsburgh is 3-2 after beating the Colts, and the offense woke up for 34. Tampa Bay is 1-4 but won in Dallas last week, 24-16, which was a nice change. Three points feels like the right amount of respect for a home team that finally got one.
Cardinals at Rams — Cardinals +12.5
Arizona gave up 45 to Detroit and is 1-4. That’s rough. But the Rams are 2-3 and just lost 37-34 in overtime to Buffalo, which tells me they aren’t some juggernaut either. I’m not laying 12.5 in the NFL in October with a team that got pushed that hard.
Chargers at Chiefs — Chiefs -8.5
Los Angeles is 0-5. Kansas City is 4-0 and had the week off to get healthy. That’s my whole argument. It’s a lot of points, but the Chargers haven’t beaten anyone yet, so lay it.
Bills at Raiders — Bills -6
Buffalo is 4-1 after that overtime win in Los Angeles. The Raiders have dropped two straight now, the latest a 45-17 blowout at New England, and they haven’t looked like the same team. Give the six.
Sunday Night, Oct. 18
Cowboys at Packers — Packers -1.5
Green Bay is 3-2 off that 31-7 beatdown of Chicago, and Lambeau on a Sunday night is hard to beat. Dallas is 2-3 and lost at home to a winless Tampa Bay team. I’m not sure what this defense is supposed to be right now. Take the Packers and the small number.
Monday Night, Oct. 19
Commanders at 49ers — 49ers -7.5
San Francisco is 5-0 and just beat Seattle 32-29 on the road. Washington is 1-3-1 and needed overtime to tie the Giants at home. A road trip to Santa Clara isn’t going to fix whatever’s going on there. Lay the points.
