Mr. Gamble Q&A: Zoltán Tűndik Shares His Journey to Co-Founding HIPTHER
In this exclusive Q&A, Mr. Gamble’s CMO, Paul Puolakka, sits down with Zoltán Tűndik, the visionary co-founder of HIPTHER, to delve into his incredible journey. From starting out as an iGaming affiliate in 2008 to becoming a leading figure in media and events, Zoltán shares how his passion for innovation led to the creation of HIPTHER, a powerhouse uniting industries like iGaming, Blockchain, AI, Fintech, and more. Discover the milestones, challenges, and inspirations that shaped his career and the evolution of HIPTHER into a global platform for knowledge and collaboration.
Zoltán, what inspired you to co-found HIPTHER, and how has the journey of building such a multifaceted organization shaped your perspective on media and events?
Honestly, HIPTHER was born out of a simple idea: creating a space where industries like igaming, tech, and compliance could come together and grow responsibly. We didn’t just want to be another media brand or event organizer—we wanted to build something bigger, something that connects people, inspires innovation, and stays grounded in doing things the right way. It was about blending tradition with forward-thinking, and that mix still inspires everything we do.
My journey to co-founding HIPTHER started back in 2008 when I entered the iGaming industry as an affiliate. Over the years, I became deeply involved with the industry, and in 2015 I ventured into the media and events sphere, launching Eastern European Gaming (EEGaming.org). This platform eventually evolved into European Gaming (EuropeanGaming.eu) in 2018, offering more comprehensive coverage. As time went on, we expanded our focus to other verticals like Blockchain, AI, Fintech, and even Politics, through the creation of PICANTE.Today in 2019. Under that brand, we also launched events like the TECH Conference Europe. By 2020, it became clear that uniting all these initiatives under one umbrella would allow us to make an even greater impact, and thus, HIPTHER was born.
The journey has been a wild but rewarding ride. Building HIPTHER has shown me just how powerful it is to bring people together, whether it’s through our events or our platforms. It’s also taught me that media and events are about way more than just sharing information—they’re about creating real connections, building trust, and helping industries move forward. Seeing the #hipthers community grow has been incredible, and it’s a reminder that progress doesn’t mean cutting corners—it means bringing people together and doing things with integrity. And that’s what keeps me excited every day.
HIPTHER serves a wide range of industries, from iGaming to blockchain and fintech. How do you ensure your content and events remain relevant and impactful across such diverse fields?
At HIPTHER, we see the diversity of industries we cover not as a challenge, but as an opportunity. Each industry—whether it’s iGaming, blockchain, fintech, AI, or compliance—has its unique trends, challenges, and opportunities, but they’re all interconnected at some level. That’s why our approach is about creating a platform where these industries can not only shine individually but also learn from one another.
We keep several websites that each have a sharp focus on specific industries, allowing us to tailor content to their unique needs and ensure we’re speaking directly to the professionals in those spaces. However, when it comes to our events, we bring all those industries together under the HIPTHER umbrella. Our conferences are the “center stage” where these fields intersect, providing attendees the chance to discover unexpected synergies, cross-industry innovations, and new partnerships. This crossover is where the magic happens—it’s what makes our events more than just another industry gathering.
The key to staying relevant and impactful is listening. We’re constantly engaging with thought leaders, experts, and innovators in each sector to ensure our content and discussions hit the mark. Whether it’s through news coverage on our websites or panel discussions at our events, our goal is to highlight the biggest challenges, the most exciting innovations, and the trends shaping the future. At the heart of it all is our commitment to creating environments—both online and offline—that foster collaboration, spark ideas, and drive meaningful conversations. It’s what makes HIPTHER stand out, and it’s what we’re most proud of.
As a self-taught publisher and seasoned events organizer, what do you consider the most critical factors for successfully running conferences that span multiple continents?
Over the years, I’ve learned that running successful conferences, especially those that cover multiple continents, is as much an art as it is a science. While logistics, planning, and execution are all critical elements, the heart of a great event lies in the experience you create for your attendees—and that’s something you can only truly understand by listening. Feedback, especially when it highlights setbacks or problems, has been my greatest teacher. It’s through those honest conversations that you refine your approach and build something truly meaningful.
As a boutique-style event organizer, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that less is often more. We deliberately keep our events smaller and more focused, which allows us to prioritize comfort, deliver high-quality content, and cultivate networking opportunities that feel personal and genuine. A smaller crowd creates a unique energy—you’re not lost in a sea of people, and you leave with meaningful connections instead of just business cards. That’s something you can’t replicate in a massive conference hall.
What also sets us apart is our commitment to tailoring each event to its audience and region. Every continent, every industry, and even every local market has its own nuances, and you need to be adaptable. That means paying attention to cultural differences, understanding what topics resonate most in a given region, and ensuring that your speakers and content are relevant to the people in the room.
Above all, passion for what you do and for the industries you serve is key. Whether it’s iGaming in Europe, blockchain in North America, or fintech in Asia, we’ve found that success comes from genuinely caring about the communities we bring together. When you pair that passion with attention to detail, a willingness to adapt, and a deep respect for your attendees’ time and needs, you’re not just running a conference—you’re creating an experience that people will remember and want to return to. And that’s what makes all the difference.
Your TEDx talk in 2018 focused on reputation management in the digital age. How do you see the importance of reputation evolving in today's fast-paced, tech-driven industries?
Thank you for mentioning my TEDx Talk in 2018! That experience was truly special for me, as it allowed me to dive into a topic I’m passionate about—reputation management in the digital age. Back then, I emphasized how quickly information spreads and how a single misstep can have far-reaching consequences for a brand or individual. Today, the importance of reputation has only grown more critical, especially in tech-driven industries like iGaming, blockchain, and fintech.
The speed and scope of how reputations are formed—or damaged—have amplified with the rise of AI, social media algorithms, and platforms that thrive on immediacy. Now, more than ever, businesses and leaders need to proactively manage their reputations by staying authentic, consistent, and transparent. I’ve learned over time, especially through our work at HIPTHER, that setbacks or problems are often the best feedback mechanisms. Listening carefully to criticisms and addressing them openly not only strengthens reputation but builds trust with your audience.
Reputation today isn’t just about avoiding scandals or keeping a clean image—it’s about being relatable, ethical, and fostering genuine connections with stakeholders. Whether it’s through the curated content we publish or the boutique-style events we organize, I’ve found that prioritizing quality and meaningful interactions ultimately creates a stronger, more lasting reputation. In fast-paced industries, your reputation is your most valuable currency—it’s what people remember long after the buzz dies down.
With the HIPTHER portfolio covering gaming, blockchain, AI, and more, what industry do you feel is currently the most exciting, and why?
That’s a tough one because each industry we cover has its own unique appeal and is evolving at an incredible pace. However, if I had to choose, I’d say artificial intelligence (AI) is currently the most exciting. It’s not just because of the breakthroughs we’re seeing, but because AI is influencing every other industry we work with—igaming, blockchain, fintech, and beyond.
AI has become this central force that’s reshaping how we think about innovation. In igaming, for example, AI is powering hyper-personalized player experiences and responsible gambling measures. In blockchain, it’s improving data analysis, fraud detection, and even enabling smarter decentralized ecosystems. And in fintech, it’s revolutionizing everything from customer service to financial modeling. It’s an endless loop of innovation feeding into other innovations.
What’s especially exciting to me is the philosophical and ethical questions AI raises. At HIPTHER, we’re not just observers—we’re actively fostering discussions about how AI can drive progress while remaining ethical and sustainable. With every conference we organize and every piece of content we publish, we see firsthand how AI sparks interest across industries and becomes the centerpiece of so many future-focused conversations.
That said, I wouldn’t discount igaming or blockchain, which have consistently pushed boundaries and brought incredible creativity and disruption to the table. But there’s no denying that AI is the driving force uniting and accelerating them all—and that’s why it’s such an exciting time to be at the intersection of these industries.
How has your role as a writer, speaker, and podcast host contributed to the growth and visibility of HIPTHER?
Being a writer, speaker, and podcast host has been like wearing three hats to make HIPTHER visible and impactful. Writing helps me dive into the hottest industry topics, giving us credibility and sparking real conversations. Speaking at events lets me connect face-to-face with professionals, expanding our network and adding a human touch to what we do.
And podcasting? That’s where the fun happens—candid chats with brilliant minds that bring big ideas to life and keep our audience hooked. These roles have turned HIPTHER into more than just a news and events platform—it’s now a hub for stories, connections, and future-focused discussions, all with a personal twist!
What are your key goals for HIPTHER in 2025, and are there any new industries or innovations you plan to explore?
For HIPTHER in 2025, our key goals revolve around expansion, innovation, and diving deeper into the topics that matter most. On the media side, we’re aiming to broaden our horizons by focusing on covering official political stories, digesting press releases from global agencies, and delivering objective, high-quality content that connects industries with the bigger picture. A major focus will be on cybersecurity—an area that’s becoming increasingly critical across every sector we cover, from gaming to blockchain to fintech.
We’re also exploring new industries where technology and innovation are rapidly transforming the landscape. This includes sectors like healthtech, where AI and VR are reshaping medical practices and patient care; green tech, focusing on the role of sustainability and renewable energy in global business; and space tech, as commercial and governmental initiatives push humanity toward the stars. Additionally, edtech is on our radar, particularly in how gamification and blockchain could revolutionize learning environments.
Our goal is to create a platform that not only informs but inspires, offering insights into industries that intersect with innovation and compliance. Whether tackling these emerging fields or deepening our coverage in established sectors, we’ll continue to bring fresh perspectives, dynamic events, and meaningful connections to the table. In 2025, HIPTHER is all about pushing boundaries while staying true to our core mission: connecting people and industries in impactful ways.
What do you think sets HIPTHER’s events, such as boutique-style conferences, apart from other iGaming industry gatherings?
What truly sets HIPTHER’s events apart is their boutique-style approach, designed to be the perfect mix of professionalism and personality. Unlike the massive, overwhelming expos, our conferences focus on fostering genuine connections in a relaxed yet productive environment. By keeping the gatherings smaller and more curated, attendees get to engage directly with decision-makers, industry innovators, and thought leaders, creating real value beyond just exchanging business cards.
But it doesn’t stop there—our events are known for their unique atmosphere. Whether it’s karaoke outings that sometimes evolve into legendary after-parties or intimate jazz and blues concerts that set a laid-back tone, we go beyond the usual conference experience. These moments allow attendees to unwind, build deeper relationships, and enjoy themselves while still being part of a professional setting. At HIPTHER events, it’s not just about learning and networking—it’s about creating an experience that makes you want to come back year after year.
You’re actively involved in the HIPTHER Talks Podcast. Which guest or episode has been your personal favorite, and what made it stand out?
That’s a tough one because all the episodes have their own charm! Each guest brings something unique to the table, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. That said, the episodes with Dr. Dean Rakic about the latest blockchain updates always stand out—partly because they’re packed with so much information that they stretch into hour-long deep dives. Those episodes also happen to be some of the most downloaded ones, which speaks volumes about how much the audience enjoys them too. But honestly, I equally love the episodes with high-energy, fun guests who bring a lighter, engaging vibe to the podcast. It’s that mix of insight and personality that makes HIPTHER Talks such a joy to host. Maybe you can nominate your favorite.
With the rapid growth of blockchain, AI, and fintech, how do you see these technologies influencing the future of media and events?
The rapid growth of blockchain, AI, and fintech is reshaping the media and events landscape in fascinating ways. Blockchain, for example, is poised to revolutionize transparency and trust, particularly in ticketing systems and content rights management, ensuring more secure and traceable transactions. AI, on the other hand, is already transforming how we personalize experiences—whether through tailored content recommendations or real-time analytics that help improve event formats on the go. Imagine AI-driven matchmaking at events, where attendees are paired with the perfect contacts based on shared interests or business goals—it’s a game-changer for networking.
Fintech is also enhancing accessibility and efficiency in the events industry. Simplified payment systems, cross-border transactions, and blockchain-based cryptocurrencies could make ticket purchasing and vendor payments smoother than ever. Together, these technologies are not just tools but enablers of innovation, helping media and event organizers create more immersive, secure, and user-focused experiences. The future of media and events isn’t just about keeping up with these technologies—it’s about integrating them thoughtfully to elevate how we connect and share ideas.
What challenges have you faced while managing a portfolio as diverse as HIPTHER’s, and how have you successfully navigated them?
Managing a portfolio as diverse as HIPTHER’s is both exciting and challenging. One of the biggest hurdles has been setting up each platform with a clear vision and ensuring we have the right people in place to bring that vision to life. It’s a constant balancing act to keep everything running smoothly while also maintaining the high standards we’re known for. Sometimes, despite best efforts, not every project finds its audience or achieves the impact we hoped for—those are tough decisions, but we’ve had to retire certain initiatives to focus resources on the ones that truly resonate.
The key to navigating these challenges has been flexibility and a willingness to adapt. Listening to feedback, analyzing performance, and knowing when to pivot or let go have been critical. At the same time, fostering a passionate team and staying committed to delivering quality across all verticals have helped ensure the portfolio remains innovative and relevant. Ultimately, the challenges are part of the process—they teach you what works, what doesn’t, and how to grow stronger.
Among the many conferences HIPTHER organized in 2024, which one was your favorite and why?
It’s hard to pick a favorite because each HIPTHER conference in 2024 had its own special charm and milestones. Prague Gaming & TECH Summit stood out with nearly 300 attendees—our largest turnout yet—which created an incredible atmosphere of energy and engagement. Then there’s EGC in Warsaw, which almost tripled in size compared to 2023 and introduced a second day packed with valuable content and networking opportunities—a major leap forward for the event.
But I’d also highlight MARE BALTICUM Gaming & TECH Summit in Tallinn. It was truly a jewel this year, as we finally had the chance to see the openness and innovation of the Estonian startup community up close. Each conference brought something unique to the table, whether it was scale, growth, or new collaborations, making 2024 a truly remarkable year for HIPTHER events.
You’ve been instrumental in shaping online news platforms that cover cutting-edge technologies. What role do you see these platforms playing in shaping industry trends?
Online news platforms play a pivotal role in shaping industry trends by acting as both mirrors and megaphones for innovation. They mirror the latest developments, breakthroughs, and challenges, providing industries with up-to-date insights, while also amplifying emerging ideas to spark wider conversations. These platforms become hubs for thought leadership, connecting innovators, decision-makers, and audiences, which can drive collaboration and influence the trajectory of industries.
From my experience, platforms like ours can set the agenda by highlighting transformative topics—be it blockchain’s integration into finance, AI’s ethical challenges, or fintech’s disruption of traditional banking. By showcasing these stories, we not only inform but also inspire action, fueling innovation and pushing industries to adapt to new possibilities. In a fast-paced world, online platforms have the power to guide industries by spotlighting the most critical and forward-thinking developments.

With unique touches like workshops embedded in conferences, the Academy combines professional growth with the energy and networking opportunities of live events.
The integration of blockchain into gaming and technology sectors is growing rapidly. How do you see this impacting the industries HIPTHER serves, and are there any initiatives you’re pursuing in this space?
The integration of blockchain into gaming and technology is a game-changer, creating opportunities for transparency, decentralization, and innovation across the industries HIPTHER serves. In iGaming, blockchain is transforming areas like payment processing, fraud prevention, and provably fair gaming, while in technology sectors, it's unlocking potential in Web3, smart contracts, and decentralized finance.
At HIPTHER, we’re deeply invested in exploring these developments. Our conferences have increasingly included blockchain-focused panels, workshops, and networking opportunities, bringing together thought leaders to discuss its transformative impact. Additionally, through HIPTHER Academy, we’re launching educational workshops on blockchain fundamentals, regulatory compliance, and advanced use cases, helping professionals navigate this rapidly evolving space. As a duathlete, you’re dedicated to running and cycling. How does this passion influence your approach to business and leadership?
As a duathlete, the lessons from running and cycling deeply influence my approach to business and leadership. Endurance, built over time, teaches you to stay committed even when the journey gets tough—whether it’s tackling a long uphill climb or navigating business challenges. Never giving up is a mindset that drives both athletic and professional success. Showing up consistently, regardless of circumstances, is key.
Much like in a race, in business, you don’t always control the conditions, but you can control your effort and focus. It’s about doing your thing, staying disciplined, and trusting the process—because, ultimately, progress comes from persistence and showing up every single day.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of building HIPTHER, and how do you measure the success of your initiatives?
The most rewarding aspect of building HIPTHER has been seeing our vision come to life as a dynamic, multifaceted platform that connects industries, sparks meaningful conversations, and fosters innovation. Watching our events evolve into trusted hubs where thought leaders, innovators, and trailblazers come together is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about the numbers—it’s about the moments when someone says they found a life-changing connection, a business solution, or even a new perspective at one of our conferences.
We measure the success of our initiatives through a mix of tangible and intangible factors: attendee and partner feedback, growth in participation and engagement, and the lasting impact of the connections and insights facilitated by HIPTHER. But honestly, the true measure of success is knowing we’ve created something that people value—whether it’s a conference, a media platform, or even a single conversation sparked by one of our events. That’s what makes it all worthwhile.
With your expertise in organizing both virtual and in-person events, what do you believe is the future of conferences—hybrid, fully virtual, or a return to in-person formats?
I firmly believe the future lies in separating the two formats rather than trying to force a hybrid model. Hybrid events often fall short because they can’t deliver the full value of in-person networking or the streamlined focus of a virtual experience. When people attend an in-person event, they’re there to connect on a deeper level—shake hands, share laughs over coffee (or karaoke!), and engage in organic, meaningful conversations. Virtual attendees simply can’t replicate that energy or connection through a screen.
On the flip side, virtual events excel when they’re shorter, more focused, and designed to deliver high-impact content to a global audience without the need for travel. They’re perfect for workshops, quick updates, or niche discussions that thrive on efficiency.
The key is to treat each format as its own unique experience. In-person events will always be irreplaceable for networking and building relationships, while virtual events are great for accessibility and quick knowledge sharing. Combining them into a hybrid often dilutes the strengths of both formats, so I see the future as being a strategic balance of separate, purpose-driven events tailored to their respective strengths.
You’ve established news platforms that span iGaming, AI, fintech, and more. Which of these fields do you believe will experience the most significant transformation in the next five years?
The fields that I believe will experience the most significant transformation in the next five years are those centered around Data, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digitalization. As industries across the board continue to rely more heavily on technology, the way we manage, protect, and utilize data will become absolutely critical.
Data Privacy will evolve rapidly, especially with increasing global regulations and consumer demand for transparency. Companies will need to reimagine how they handle user data, striking a balance between personalization and privacy. Similarly, Cybersecurity will grow exponentially in importance as digital threats become more sophisticated. Every industry, from iGaming to fintech, will need to double down on securing their systems to maintain trust and compliance.
Digitalization, as a broader trend, will touch every sector, driving efficiency and innovation while also creating challenges in adapting legacy systems. These fields are interconnected, and their transformation will likely define how industries operate, innovate, and connect with consumers over the next decade. At HIPTHER, we’re keeping a close eye on these shifts, as they’ll undoubtedly shape the industries we serve and the conversations we host.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to enter the tech or events industry today?
My advice is simple: the more, the merrier. Contrary to the belief that the market is too saturated, there’s always room for fresh ideas and new approaches. Let people decide what they want to attend and when they want to attend. The key is providing value, not worrying about competition.
New kids on the block often bring innovation and challenge the status quo, which is great for the industry as a whole. Don’t be afraid to enter a crowded space—it forces you to think differently, stand out, and evolve quickly. Focus on creating unique experiences or solutions, stay adaptable, and most importantly, keep an open mind. In industries as dynamic as tech and events, there’s always an opportunity for those who are willing to listen, learn, and innovate.
Lastly, do you personally play casino games? If so, what is your favorite slot or type of game, and how does your experience as a player influence your business decisions?
I don’t play casino games very often, but I’m definitely a huge fan of slots! My favorite games are Elvis Frog—gotta love that quirky, fun vibe—and the classic Gladiator slots, which bring a nostalgic, old-school feel.
While I don’t play frequently, my experience as a casual player gives me valuable insight into what makes a game truly engaging. It helps me understand the importance of themes, mechanics, and player satisfaction, which in turn influences how we approach topics like game design trends, player retention, and user experience at HIPTHER. It’s all about balancing fun, innovation, and accessibility—both for the players and the businesses behind the games!
Thanks a ton for such a great chat! You really pulled out some fun, insightful questions—made me feel like a rock star for a bit! Always happy to share my journey and the wild ride that is HIPTHER. Let’s keep the conversation going—whether at an event, over a podcast, or maybe even at karaoke (but only if you sing too). Keep being awesome, Paul!
