Paul Puolakka, CMO of Mr. Gamble, to Speak at SBC Summit in Lisbon

Paul Puolakka, CMO of Mr. Gamble, is set to take the stage at the SBC Summit in Lisbon, joining industry leaders in a highly anticipated panel discussion on the controversial topic of listing fees. Puolakka, whose strategic vision has helped establish Mr. Gamble as a leader in the competitive iGaming affiliate space, will share his insights on how listing fees can serve as a vital tool for financial stability and risk mitigation in affiliate partnerships.

The panel, titled Debate: Listing Fees for Affiliates – A New Security? will take place on Wednesday, 25 September, from 14:45 to 15:30 on the Affiliate Leaders Stage, as part of the inaugural Affiliate Leaders Summit. This event aims to foster deeper connections among affiliates, operator managers, and other key stakeholders in the industry.

Puolakka will be joined by Peter Gunni, CCO of Traffic Lab, and Leanne Muleba, COO at Matching Visions, with the session being moderated by Elaine Gardiner-Ruddock, Managing Director at TAG Media.

In a recent exclusive interview with SBC, Puolakka shared his thoughts on the increasing importance of listing fees in the affiliate industry:

"Running an affiliate business today involves significant costs, from content creation and salaries to data, hosting…and the list goes on. The affiliation business has evolved into sophisticated operations with substantial overheads. Listing fees are a way to ensure that our partners are financially stable and capable of honoring their commitments. If an operator can’t afford a reasonable listing fee, it raises concerns about their ability to pay commissions long-term."

“We’ve seen a rise in rogue operators who operate briefly, then either close affiliate accounts or fail to pay commissions. This poses a serious financial risk to us, affecting both immediate revenue and long-term earnings from reliable partners.”

The panel will dive into the growing trend of affiliates requiring listing fees as a safeguard against the risk of non-payment by operators. With affiliates increasingly seeking financial stability, the discussion will explore whether listing fees represent a fair solution or whether they bring new challenges to the table.
