Real-money online casinos are not legal in Florida, and there is no state license or application process for them. The only legal online gambling in the state is sports betting through Hard Rock Bet, run by the Seminole Tribe. Everything else you see advertised online as a “Florida online casino” is either a sweepstakes site or an offshore operator.
Florida is also the toughest state we cover for sweepstakes casinos right now. The Attorney General sued two big operators in August and has been pressuring tech platforms over sweepstakes ads. We’ll walk through what that means, which sites list Florida players, and what to check before you sign up. Offers and availability can change fast here, so read each site’s terms first.
Florida Online Casinos at a Glance
18+ at some sites, 21+ at most. No purchase necessary. Sweeps Coins have no cash value and cannot be purchased directly. Void where prohibited. Check each site’s terms for Florida availability.
Are Online Casinos Legal in Florida?
Not for real money. A bill to create a path for online casino gaming, HB 189, died in a House subcommittee in 2025 without a floor vote, and the 2026 session closed in March without changing that. Under the 2021 agreement between the state and the Seminole Tribe, which runs through 2051, the tribe holds the only license for online sports betting. Online slots, table games and similar casino products have no legal route.
On land, Florida has Seminole casinos, including Hard Rock locations, plus pari-mutuel venues, and the Florida Lottery. Players must be 21+ at the casinos and sportsbook. Lottery players can be 18+.
What Florida’s Attorney General Has Done About Sweepstakes Casinos
This is the part that sets Florida apart. No Florida law specifically bans sweepstakes casinos. Several bills have tried, including SB 1580 in 2026, which cleared a Senate committee but died before becoming law. But Attorney General James Uthmeier considers these sites unauthorized gambling and has acted on it.
- Late 2025 to early 2026: His office sent subpoenas to several operators and met with some of them.
- August 2026: The AG filed two lawsuits in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against Stake and VGW, the company behind Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker, along with affiliated payment processors. The suits allege illegal online gambling and violations of the state’s deceptive trade practices law and seek injunctions, forfeiture and civil penalties.
- September 2026: He sent letters to Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap and TikTok demanding they stop hosting sweepstakes casino ads in Florida, with an October 23 deadline to respond.
These are allegations, not court rulings, and the coverage we found focuses on operators and the platforms that promote them, not on individual players. We aren’t lawyers and can’t tell you how Florida law treats a player, so if that worries you, speak with an attorney before you play. Also remember that a site can restrict Florida with little notice, and a 2027 bill could change things quickly.
We don’t list Stake, Chumba, LuckyLand or Global Poker on this page.
How Social and Sweepstakes Casinos Differ
A social casino runs on one currency, virtual coins you play with for fun. Nothing converts back to cash.
A sweepstakes casino adds a second currency. Gold Coins are play-only, while Sweeps Coins arrive free with promotions or bundled with a coin purchase. After you verify your identity and hit a site’s minimum, Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for prizes, including cash. Most sites also offer a free mail-in entry, which is how the model is meant to qualify as a sweepstakes rather than gambling.

Operators Florida Has Gone After
If you’re searching for a site by name, know that Stake and VGW’s brands (Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots and Global Poker) are the defendants in the AG’s August lawsuits and were named in the September ad letters. Whether each keeps serving Florida is changing, and we haven’t verified current access. If a site you already use stops loading or won’t let you redeem, check its terms for a Florida restriction.
How to Check a Site Before You Sign Up in Florida
- Open the site’s terms or FAQ and look for a restricted-states list.
- Confirm the minimum age, since it varies from 18 to 21.
- Look at the redemption minimum and any daily cap that applies in your state.
- Read the free mail-in entry rules so you know you can play without buying anything.
- Start with the free sign-up coins before you spend, and keep any purchases small.
- Verify your identity early so your first redemption isn’t delayed.
