Real-money online casinos aren’t legal in Illinois. You can bet on sports from your phone, buy lottery tickets and walk into a licensed casino, but there’s no state-licensed way to play online slots or blackjack for cash.
What’s left for online play is a shrinking group of sweepstakes and social casinos, and Illinois is one of the toughest states for them right now.
That’s why this page looks different from our other state guides. Below you’ll find what Illinois law says, how the 2026 enforcement push changed the picture, the sweepstakes casinos from our list that currently take Illinois sign-ups, and the legal ways to play.
Availability changes quickly, so read each site’s terms before you register. If you’re comparing options in general, our most trusted online casinos page is a good place to start.
Illinois Online Casinos at a Glance
Age limits vary by site, from 18+ to 21+. No purchase necessary. Sweeps Coins have no cash value and cannot be purchased directly. Void where prohibited. Illinois availability changes often, so confirm in each site’s terms before you sign up.

Are Online Casinos Legal in Illinois?
Not for real money. Illinois licenses riverboat and land-based casinos, racetracks, sportsbooks and video gaming terminals, but it has never created an online casino market. Bills to change that have failed again this year, and no active proposal looks close.
Sports betting is a different story. It’s legal and regulated online, with licensed apps including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars, and you must be 21 or older. Our best NFL betting sites and apps guide covers where to find lines.
Sweepstakes casinos sit in a legal gray area. No Illinois law is written specifically for them, and no statewide ban has passed. They operate on the idea that Sweeps Coins can be earned for free through a mail-in entry or a daily bonus, so playing doesn’t require a purchase. Illinois officials, though, have made it clear they don’t see it that way.
How Illinois Cracked Down on Sweepstakes Casinos in 2026
In early February 2026, the Illinois Gaming Board and the Attorney General’s office sent cease-and-desist letters to more than 60 online casino and sweepstakes operators.
The letters said that offering games that award cash or prizes violates Illinois criminal law, and they warned of penalties for operators that kept serving Illinois residents. The Gaming Board has also said publicly that sweepstakes casinos are not welcome in the state.
The response has been uneven. Several operators pulled out or restricted Illinois access, while others kept their doors open.
Reports we found name Smiles Casino as the first to leave. WoW Vegas and Rolla are reported to have ended Sweeps Coins play in Illinois on May 1. A group of Blazesoft brands, including Zula Casino and Sportzino, reportedly pulled their Sweeps Coins games in June, and LuckyLand Slots announced it will close this fall. Stake.us also exited the state in May.
Software providers have reacted too. Pragmatic Play said last year it would exit the Illinois market, and reports say Evolution removed its games from the state in January. Neither of those is a ban on you as a player. Nothing we found says players face criminal penalties for using these sites. But the legal risk is real and it’s falling on operators, so sites can restrict Illinois with little notice.
For another state where the rules are shifting, see how we handled Arizona Online Casinos, where regulators also sent cease-and-desist letters.
The Sweepstakes Casinos on Our List That Take Illinois Players
Sources don’t agree on which sites currently accept Illinois, so we focused on brands that appear on multiple “available in Illinois” lists and aren’t flagged as restricted. That said, this changes monthly, so double-check before you sign up.
Go Go Gold
Standout: The biggest first-deposit upside of the group, with up to 60 SC and 420K GC.
Go Go Gold is the newest name here, launched in August 2025. You start with 200K GC and 4 free SC, and an optional first deposit offer adds up to 60 SC and 420K GC. It’s one of the few brands that shows up on Illinois-available lists. Redemption rules are on the site, and it is generally listed as 21+.
SpinBlitz
Standout: A light 1x playthrough on Sweeps Coins, with gift card redemptions from just 10 SC.
SpinBlitz is a slots-focused site with more than 1,500 games, plus scratch cards and a small live dealer section. It launched in 2024 as a rebrand of Scratchful Casino. The welcome package with the code SPINBONUS is 130,000 Gold Coins and 65 free Sweeps Coins for $29.99, and it also hands out a smaller batch of free coins just for signing up. Cash redemptions start at 75 SC and gift cards at 10 SC, and it’s a 21+ site.
Spinfinite
Standout: The Infinity Wheel, a bonus spin that comes with the first purchase.
Spinfinite starts you off with 3,000 GC and a Mystery Bonus. A first purchase unlocks 200% extra, and on the $20 package that’s 60K GC, 40 free SC and a spin on the Infinity Wheel. If you like a little randomness in your welcome offer, this is the one.
Rebet
Standout: A sign-up offer built around Rebet Coins, with a sportsbook-style side.
Rebet gives new players 10,000 Rebet Coins plus 1 Rebet Cash on sign up with the code GAMBLE, and it also runs a sportsbook-style side. It’s more of a hybrid than a classic slots lobby, so manage expectations if you want a huge game library. It appears on Illinois-available lists.

50% Match up to $50 in Casino Bonus18+/21+, Sweepstakes Model, 1x WR, KYC Required, Min Redemption $10–$20, Max Redemption $1,000/Day, $0.75 Redemption Fee, Bank Transfer Only, AMOE Available, ReBet Coins Non-Redeemable.
Sites Reported as Pulling Out of Illinois
If you’ve used a sweepstakes casino before, check this list first. Reports say WoW Vegas, Rolla, Smiles Casino, Stake.us and several Blazesoft brands have left or limited Illinois play, and LuckyLand Slots is shutting down.
Other popular names, including Jackpota, McLuck, SpinBlitz, Sixty6, Pulsz and LoneStar, show up on at least one restricted list, though other sources disagree. We left them out of the table above for that reason. If one of them is your favorite, look at its terms page or contact support before you buy coins.
Redeeming Prizes at Illinois Sweepstakes Casinos
Gold Coins are for play and can’t be redeemed. Sweeps Coins are the ones that count: once you clear identity verification and hit a site’s minimum, you can redeem them for prizes. Minimums vary by site, often from about 10 SC for gift cards to 100 SC for cash.
For gift card options, see our guide to online casinos that accept gift cards, and for fast cashouts, check the fast withdrawal casino sites page. Because Illinois availability can change without notice, redeem your prizes before you stop playing at a site.
How to Sign Up at an Illinois Sweepstakes Casino
- Pick a site from the table and click through.
- Register with your name, email, date of birth and Illinois address.

- Claim the free sign-up coins. None of these sites makes you buy anything to start.

Paying for Coins in Illinois
Most sweepstakes sites sell coin packages by debit card, credit card or bank payment. Illinois lawmakers have introduced a bill to bar credit cards for gambling, but it hasn’t passed.
Many banks already treat gambling charges as cash advances, so see our credit card casinos guide before you put a card on file. Our PayPal casinos page covers wallet options.
Legal Ways to Play in Illinois
If you want fully licensed, regulated action, Illinois has several routes, and all of them are 21+ except the lottery and daily fantasy sports.
- Sports betting: Licensed apps are available statewide.
- Land-based casinos: Riverboat and land casinos operate across the state.
- Video gaming terminals: Found in licensed bars and restaurants.
- Illinois Lottery: Draw games and scratch-offs, open to players 18 and older.
- Daily fantasy sports: Available to Illinois players.
Some Illinoisans also use prediction markets for sports and event contracts, and our prediction market promo codes page compares the current sign-up offers.

Illinois Online Casinos FAQs
Are online casinos legal in Illinois?
Not for real money. Illinois has no licensed online casino market. Sweepstakes casinos operate in a gray area, and state officials have been pushing back on them.
Can I get in trouble for playing at a sweepstakes casino in Illinois?
We found no reports of players being penalized. The enforcement so far targets operators. You should still check the law and each site’s terms, and we aren’t lawyers.
Which sweepstakes casinos take Illinois players?
It changes often. GoGoGold, Titan Treasure, Spinfinite and Rebet appear on Illinois-available lists as of this writing, while WOW Vegas, Rolla and several others are reported to have left. Always confirm in a site’s terms.
Will Illinois ever legalize online casinos?
Bills have failed repeatedly, and nothing is moving right now. The state’s strong sports betting market makes it a plausible candidate down the road, but there’s no timeline.
What age do you have to be to play?
Sweepstakes sites range from 18+ to 21+, so check the terms. Sports betting and casinos are 21+, and the Illinois Lottery is 18+.
