These odds are just my own guesses after Week 8, not real sportsbook lines. Every QB is his own market, so the percentages don’t have to add up to 100%.
Jacoby Brissett, Cardinals (+150)
Arizona beat Dallas 33-30 in overtime, but Brissett didn’t finish it. Coach Mike LaFleur pulled him in the third quarter after two bad sacks.
Minshew came in and threw three touchdowns, including one on a drive that tied it in the last minute. That’s hard to go back from.
Nothing’s official on who starts next week. The Cardinals are 3-5 and he’s on a short leash, so he’s my favorite now.
Kirk Cousins, Raiders (+600)
Vegas finally won, 38-33 over the Jets. Cousins was 19 of 26 for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and he ran one in too.
Kubiak stuck with him all week while the Mendoza talk kept going. The win buys him some time, and they’re 4-4 now.
Malik Willis, Dolphins (+800)
Miami lost another close one, 24-19 to New England, and they’re 1-6. Willis threw two touchdowns and a pick, and he got sacked five times.
He played fine, honestly. But a one-win team has a way of making changes anyway.
Michael Penix Jr., Falcons (+1000)
Ugly one. Atlanta got shut out 16-0 by Tampa Bay, and Penix threw four interceptions. He was 8 of 24 for 125 yards.
That’s easily his worst game, and the Falcons are 3-5. I’d keep an eye on this one.
Tyler Shough, Saints (+1200)
The Saints had the week off and they’re 2-5. That’s four losses in their last five before the break.
Nothing new on Shough, but another rough game coming out of the bye could get ugly.
Bryce Young, Panthers (+2000)
Carolina lost 27-19 to Green Bay. Young threw for 209 yards, one touchdown and a pick, and he got sacked six times.
The line keeps taking hits and they’re 3-4. Nobody’s talking about a change yet.
Deshaun Watson, Browns (+3000)
Pittsburgh crushed Cleveland 27-6 and sacked Watson eight times. The Browns never got into the end zone.
They’re still 5-3, so nobody’s pushing to move off him. That’s a lot of hits though.
Geno Smith, Jets (+3500)
Geno threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns, but the Jets lost 38-33 to the Raiders. He threw a pick with seven seconds left.
The Jets are 2-6 now. He’s played well in back-to-back losses, so I doubt that’s what decides it.
Kyler Murray, Vikings (+5000)
Minnesota lost 19-15 to Detroit, their first loss, and they’re 6-1. Murray threw for 210 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.
One loss doesn’t change much. He’s still the safest guy on the board.
So Where’s This Headed
Brissett is my pick now. He’s already been pulled once, Minshew played great and Arizona is only 3-5. Cousins cooled off after the win. I’d watch Penix after that four-pick game, and Willis and Shough are still in play. Young, Watson, Geno and Murray look fine for now.
Winston’s already out, so that’s the first one down. Cam Ward isn’t on the board, but the Titans are 1-7, so I’m keeping an eye on that too.
